The Restaurant Bar & Grill

Ridgefield House, 14 John Dalton St, Manchester M2 6JR, UK – 0161 839 1999

Classy as always. The terrace area with the outdoor bar is lovely. Retractable roof for poor weather days and heaters if it gets too nippy. Sadly though the service that we had was a bit slow and a couple of orders were forgotten and had to be chased up on. And it wasn't very busy so it was a bit of a puzzler. Nonetheless, it's still a nice place and great for a relaxed environment to chat over drinks. It is quite pricey here though.

Lovely sitting outside on the terrace on a warm day. Great service. Only disappointment was that I asked for my tuna steak to be cooked pink, but it was well overdone.

Sapporo Teppanyaki Manchester

91-93 Liverpool Rd, Manchester M3 4JN, UK – 0161 831 9888

Love this place, staff can’t do enough. Fresh food cooked with an experience and although the chefs must do the same routine over and over you couldn’t tell, they have such energy and know how to get the table going. The menu looks slightly expensive if you’re just thinking as this as food, but there’s lots more to this restaurant than that. Also there’s soooo much food irregardless of your menu choice. Sushi is really nice as well - definitely underrated as a sushi bar.

I'd never been to a restaurant like this before, but it was a really great experience... The food was very good and it was fun to watch it being cooked right in front of us... some good fun with the Chefs too, who had little things they did to add to the entertainment of the experience. Highly recommended especially with a group of friends.

Bar San Juan

56 Beech Rd, Manchester M21 9EG, UK – 0161 860 0498

Best tapas in Manchester by far. It just feel like being home, staff are hospitable, very friendly, the food is original and so tasty.....I would not go anywhere else. They have a great selection of very good wines. Excellent in any way.....The only downside is the waiting time, but it's always worthy.

Some of the best tapas I've ever had. Simple, Spanish food, cooked really well. The slow cooked beef cheeks and the pulled lamb in pastry, on a wine reduction, can't be recommended highly enough. The place is tiny, and they don't take bookings. So if you go in the evening, be prepared for a long wait for a table. But it's a very authentic feeling space, with friendly service. On a sunny day, you could easily imagine yourself in Barcelona or Valencia.

Best Reviewed Indian Restaurants and Takeaways in Old Trafford Lodge or in Manchester area

Zouk Tea Bar & Grill

5, The Quadrangle, Chester Street, Manchester M1 5QS, UK – 0161 233 1090

We ate dinner here on our first night in Manchester. It was nice to be able to have good quality food and share time with family within walking distance of work. The staff was friendly the environment was lovely, I would love to eat dinner there again.

Shisha outside used to have good music there but not anymore. Corner tables outside are dirty and they dont clean the chair and sofa as well. Service inside is great though. Food is amazing.

Asha's Manchester

47 Peter St, Manchester M2 3NG, UK – 0161 832 5309

I've had a lot of Indian food all over the world. Asha's is on the top of my list. There is a wide variety of traditional and not so traditional Indian cuisine. All the ingredients are fresh and no matter what you choose, it's guaranteed to be delicious. The restaurant is neat and clean, lots of seating and excellent service. I'll be back in the UK in a few months and I will definitely be having another meal here.

It's a very good restaurant that serves Indian foods. They have a menu for small plates where you can get 2 plates and a drink for 10 pounds. I recommend not ordering still water, it's quite expensive ;) The staff are very gentle and helpful. It serves Halal chicken and lambs

Shahi Masala

1 Capital Quay, Salford M50 3WL, UK – 0161 877 5050

Really hot! No air conditioning. Limited menu, food was nice. Staff busy looking after their locals and ignoring us.

Poor India restaurant, limited menu, quality of food not great, poor service, dirty toilets and no air conditioning.

Best Reviewed Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

Gio Ristorante

5-7 Lower Mosley St, Manchester M2 3WS, UK – 0161 228 2030

A great meal at a reasonable price. They were very busy, but went to a lot of trouble to squeeze us in and we were seated within 10 minutes. Superb service. Very pleased.

Somewhat disappointing. Cheap prawns in the prawn cocktail like Tesco or Asda value ones. Better quality and less would have been nicer. He steak was over cooked. The lasagne was excellent but the pasta arabitta or whatever was just pasta mixed in tomato puree with a few jalapenos thrown in. The tip, or service charge was included in the bill. It was not voluntary.

Jamie's Italian Manchester

100 King St, Manchester M2 4WU, UK – 0161 241 3901

I was in the city centre tired and hungry. As I was walking I noticed Jamie's Italian. Decide to give a shot. Went inside and found it to be empty. Granted it's a Monday at 3pm. Ordered the famous prawn Linguine. Food was done quick, but I took my time eating it. The taste was excellent and price was reasonable for the brand. Would have gone for the 5 stars but one goes off for the dead atmosphere inside the restaurant. The staff were amazing.

We got a free meal here with virgin experiences. The food was out of this a world amazing. The staff were amazing they were talking to us building a repourt going out there way to ensure we had a positive experience. I highly recommend this place especially for a special occasion or a treat. the building was a bank and you can dine in the bank volt. Very unique place

Al Bacio Italian Restaurant

14 S King St, Manchester M2 6DW, UK – 0161 832 7669

I’ve been here twice now and it’s great for a date night. The Italian people who run it come and take your coat off you and you’re seated in the really nicely decorated and clean restaurant. Then the food is super tasty. There’s a lot of seafood but many other dishes too for people like me who don’t like seafood. Ask about the ravioli of the day too as they have some good ones. All of the wine is tasty too, I’ve had a few different ones.

Traditional Italian but not that impressive sadly. Certainly one of the city's oldest Italians and have to say that when asked about something the staff would do their best to help. That said we got a cocktail that didn't have alcohol in it until it was sent back. I got a pint of lager in a glass that smelt as though it had been washed in dirty water and had to go back. Not a great start! Food was slow coming out of the kitchen but was nice when we got it. Given that there was one other table in the restaurant at the time of ordering it was a long time in all honesty. I don't think I'll be returning I'm afraid and it saddens me as I would have preferred to be more positive about a restaurant I've walked past for decades

Vesper

50 Pall Mall, Manchester M2 1AQ, UK – 0161 832 4600

This place used to be Liquorice. Apparently, it's still the same owners but they've had a re-vamp. I quite like the new interior but not sure I prefer it to the old Liquorice. The menu is really similar with some additions it seems. The staff seem the same and just as lovely as ever.

Since the change of ownership and name this place is not half as good as it used to be. This was never a place for rowdy drunken groups but it seems to have gone downhill in spectacular fashion. It's only saving grace is the cocktail menu, which is the only remnant of what this bar used to be. This was my go to place in Manchester for cocktails. Sadly it's not the case any more. I would choose Opium at Great Northern over this place any day of the week.

All Bar One Manchester

73-79 King St, Manchester M2 4NG, UK – 0161 830 1811

Visited here on Saturday morning, great little spot for breakfast! Food came down in a timely manner and tasted great. The two young ladies who served us were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone!

Nice cocktails although I wish they wouldn't put the music on so loud so early on in the evening

Arcane

2 S King St, Manchester M2 6EX, UK – 0161 834 6452

Moody basement bar, dimly lit (deliberately) Was quiet when we went, but looked to be getting busier as we left. Looks like it was trying to be a cross between classic pub style furniture and a little modern and hipster. Good selection of draft, shorts, and cocktails. Service was great, barman was friendly and made conversation with people at the bar.

Lovely cocktails! Very different, not your run of the mill, unusual and tasty.could do with turning the lights up a fraction, but great place, lovely bar people too.

Manchester Chinese Restaurants

Pearl City Restaurant

33 George St, Manchester M1 4HQ, UK – 0161 228 7683

Nice bottle of the house white. Over did the starters by ordering two lots of spare ribs. One would have been enough for two. Main courses were nice but couldn't finish all because of the starters. Pleasant surroundings, busy when we were in at 8pm to 9pm. No booking required. 10% service charge automatically added to bill.

Good food, service and hygiene. Price is reasonable and they serve desserts for free. Recommended! Will surely come back again!

The Real China

The Quays, Salford M50 3AH, UK – 0161 872 9988

Was once a great place to eat. It has gone down hill slightly, needs a little lift to get it back up to standards it once was. But still half decent.

Food was good. No air-con though so everyone was overheating. Asked for ice in my drink, got 3 half melted cubes.

Hunan Restaurant

19-21 George St, Manchester M1 4HE, UK – 0161 236 8889

Fabulous restaurant. Called in without a reservation late Saturday afternoon and we we able to get in. Everything we ordered was delicious, the salt and pepper ribs were amazing. All mains were fantastic and there was loads. Prices were very reasonable and as you'd expect. Service was fast and courteous. We never felt rushed even though we could see a number of people waiting for tables by the time we finished our meal. As soon as we stood up to leave, the table was cleared and reset before we had finished zipping up our coats! Great place.

Good food and a nice restaurant. We stopped here on a break from a road-trip, and this place was an absolute life-saver. Be sure to check this one out if you have the chance. They have a decent seating area, and keep the big round tables you expect form a decent chinese restaurant

Manchester Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

Jaipur's Palace

346 Wilmslow Rd, Manchester M14 6AB, UK – 0161 257 2525

The food is absolutely amazing! I love that their menu is only vegetarian and vegan. The service is excellent, best customer service I have ever received. Definitely recommend this place.

Probably the best vegetatian restaurant i have ever been to. The food is really tasty especially the paneer jalfrezi. Staff is very niceband friendly.

LEON

Station Approach, Manchester M1 2GH, UK – 07927 525314

A great surprise. For a fast food chain at a railway station, it's quite different. Wholesome food and drinks together with friendly, helpful staff.

Delicious food and not outrageously priced. The queue was a bit of a mess but only because it was so busy - usually a good sign! Really clean and lovely staff too.

Beirut Restaurant

34-36 Wilmslow Rd, Manchester M14 5TQ, UK – 0161 225 0763

It’s an open buffet restaurant. There is a variety of mediterranean food. Food isn’t bad but a bit greasy! The thing that annoyed me the most; that the plates and cutlery put to serve the buffet are not clean. When you touch them you will know straight away that they weren’t washed properly! We told the manager that it’s a shame they waste all their efforts with these things! Their price is equalled to other much better (Halal) open buffet restaurants in the city centre.

Really deliciouse food and the staff are so friendlly also so clean. My second time in this place and i love it. Recommended to all.

The Temple

100 Great Bridgewater St, Manchester M1 5JW, UK – 0161 278 1610

Temple bar is one of Manchester's gems. If you haven't been then you're missing out. Get I. There for great beer and a friendly atmosphere. It's only a small place but it packs a huge personality and one that you'll love to go back to. Genuinely, one of my favourite bars to visit when in Manchester. It's an absolute must try.

Quirky underground pub in what used to be a Victorian toilet. Quite easy to miss as well if you don't know it's there. Reasonably priced sinks and a good selection of bottled beers from site the world. Seating is quite cosy - there are about 15 small tables pushed in quite tightly. Music Congress from a Jukebox with a good selection of Manchester based artists. Overall well worth a visit for the experience.

The Wharf

6 Slate Wharf, Manchester M15 4ST, UK – 0161 507 4240

We googled best pubs for a Sunday roast in Manchester during a weekend trip and The Wharf popped up on a list. We booked and turned up at midday on a brilliantly hot Sunday afternoon. The pub is brilliant. Large and bright open spaces, large beer garden, well staffed bars both in and out. The outdoor bar has a BBQ on the go which smelled brilliantly. The roast dinner was great. The only downside was the meat being tough, but everything else was completely spot on. The perfect pub for a sunny afternoon in a beer garden or to throw a family gathering!

A great bar with plenty of room inside and outside. It’s set away from the busier part of Manchester but still easy to get to. They always have a decent selection of craft beers and a good and reasonable menu. We orders the cheese board this time and asked them to double it up (there were 5 of us)

The Dockyard

DockHouse, Media City, Salford M50 2EQ, UK – 0161 713 3810

Pros: A great selection of beers - with a large array of constantly rotating guest ales on pump. Unfortunately they don't get many barrels for each guest beer, meaning sometimes you find an amazing brew which isn't available when you return the next week (or next day). They usually also have a fair few 'steady' tap beers, including Doom Bar, Dockyard Ale and Dockyard Lager - plus the usual assortment of lagers, ciders, spirits and soft drinks. Some great regional craft beers in cans as well, though they're not cheap. Cons: In the summer months, at its peak the queue is out the door! But usually you can get served within seconds. It can get pretty loud inside when it's busy, so sit at one of the many outdoor tables if you want to chat in peace. A decent, gastropub-style food menu is an added benefit if you're peckish at lunchtime. Don't forget your table number if you're ordering food.

The Dockyard is, in my book, hands down the best pub in Media City. It has a large selection of beers and the food is also very good. The ambience is very comforting and the times I’ve been there the music has been good too. The staff are very friendly and do care. On my last visit, my food was delayed and the person who took the order, ensured that he got the food on my table before he finished his shift for the day. Thumbs up and I’ll continue to be a patron at this wonderful place. 👍🏼
