Find the best Manchester walks. The Ramblers Association now have a greatly improved website which is an exceptional resource for all walkers, hikers and young families wanting to go for walks with young children. This site lists everything from historical walks to leader led walks to any really arduous walks within the Old Trafford Lodge area.

Find A Walk Near Me by Walking Britain is a truly excellent and free resource. Just enter where you are or where you would like to walk - and print out directions. The walks are graded and you can buy a specific map of the area at the same time. These are proper OS maps and weather proofed if required.

I always think of walking as one of the few activities you can do for free - and now you can with this guide!

Walking, Hiking and Outdoor Shops

Go Outdoors

Urban Exchange, Great Ancoats St, Manchester M4 6DE, UK – 0344 387 6829

Love this store. Well stocked and the shop assistants I have dealt with know their stuff! Great prices too :-)

There is a good range of products available, from reasonable to more expensive, and with room for quite a few erected tents, it is easy to make a choice, and of course there is a discount card, it is a bit of a walk from the centre, but then it is a large store!

Cotswold Outdoor Manchester Deansgate

2, 118-124 Deansgate, Manchester M3 2GQ, UK – 0161 839 9255

Excellent store a good all round stock. Staff are especially friendly and helpful, really stands out in that regard. Good range of clothing and equipment to suit all levels. Store is well laid out with plenty of room to browse. Situated on Deansgate not far from St Ann's Square and next to House of Fraser. Price wise it's not bad and there are always bargains to be had. Highly recommended

Good selection of out door equipment and clothing. Good amount of sale in all sizes not just L&XL. Staff helpful and knowledgeable.

Trespass

G8, The Quays, Salford M50 3AG, UK – 0161 872 0982

Love trespass, staff are great and it's good quality especially for the kids stuff

Really helpful and friendly staff. Prices OK.

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!
